Hurricane Ike Relief

 

 

The Cincinnati Income Tax Division will extend taxpayers relief from the affects of Hurricane Ike with regard to the filing of any return, tax payment or tax deposit with an original or extended due date that fell on or after September 15, 2008.

Taxpayers located in declared disaster areas will have until January 3, 2009 to submit those returns, payments or deposits without late filing payment or deposit penalties that would otherwise apply.

Taxpayers that do not live in declared disaster areas, but who experienced damaging winds or power disturbances will have until September 22, 2008 to submit those returns, payments or deposits without late filing payment or deposit penalties.

Affected taxpayers who receive a penalty notice should submit a written request for penalty abatement to the Cincinnati Income Tax Division, 805 Central Avenue Suite 600, Cincinnati, OH  45202.  In addition, the Division will work with any taxpayer who resides elsewhere but whose books, records or tax professional are located in the relief area.
