Children's Hospital Medical Offices and Cincinnati Herald Building

On November 20, 2009, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital held a ribbon cutting for its new Avondale facilities located at 3430 Burnet Avenue, representing a major milestone in the Burnet Avenue Revitalization. The 120,000 square foot building, constructed by Al Neyer, Inc. and designed by DNK Architects, is the result of extensive input from community groups, employees, patients, and parents. The facility features various environmentally friendly (“green”) design elements. The project was a partnership between the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, the Uptown Consortium, the Burnet Avenue Revitalization Team (BART), the Avondale Community Council, and other community leaders. The City’s participation in the project included approximately $1.5 million toward acquisition of approximately 50 parcels of land.

This magnificent new medical office building helped to transform several heavily blighted city blocks in Avondale, while also bringing increased business activity to the area.  This overall development also included the 4,839 square foot Cincinnati Herald office building (LEED certified) and a 1,450-space parking garage, both located in the same block of Burnet Avenue.  The project allowed Children’s Hospital to create several hundred new jobs in Cincinnati.
