Significance: This is the birthplace and boyhood home of William Howard Taft (1857-1930), 27th President of the United States (1909-1913), a distinguished jurist who also served as Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The Taft Home is now part of the National Park System as the William Howard Taft National Historic Site, and it is Cincinnati’s only National Park site.
The Taft Education Center, located adjacent to the Taft Home, was dedicated in 1999. The center includes an orientation video, exhibits on the Taft family, and classrooms for visiting schools. The site is open seven days a week from 8:00am to 4:00pm. It is closed January 1, Thanksgiving Day, and December 25.
