Human Services Program

The Department of Community Development administers the City of Cincinnati General Fund Operating Grant (GFOG), which provides operating support for non-profit human services agencies.

The City’s Priority Areas adopted by City Council in this highly competitive process are to:

  1. Meet the emergency social needs of individuals and families (30% of budget);
  2. Promote self-sufficiency (40% of budget); and
  3. Reduce violence in the community (30% of budget).

The City’s Human Services Grant Program is overseen by a community-driven group appointed by the Mayor called the Human Services Advisory Committee.  The annual Human Services Grants process is facilitated by the United Way of Greater Cincinnati.

Nonprofit agencies that meet the Priority Area requirements should contact us at communitydevelopment@cincinnati-oh.gov to be put on the annual mailing list for Request for Proposals.
