Neighborhood Enhancement Program

The Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP) has won local, state and national awards!  The NEP is a 90-day, collaborative effort between City departments, neighborhood residents and community organizations that focuses on developing neighborhood assets. Integrated services delivery includes: Concentrating building code enforcement; Identifying and ‘cooling down’ crime hot spots; Cleaning up streets, sidewalks, and vacant lots; Beautifying landscapes, streetscapes and public right of way; Engaging property owners and residents to create and sustain a more livable neighborhood, after the first 90 days.

Through focused, integrated and concentrated city service delivery and community redevelopment efforts, partners seek to improve the quality of life in the various NEPs. The targeted areas are identified through an analysis of building code violations, vacant buildings, disorder and drug calls for Police service and drug arrests, as well as incidence of graffiti, junk autos, litter and weeds.

The program has won "Best Program of the Year - Physical Revitalization" from Neighborhoods USA. It received the "President's Award" from the Ohio Conference for Community Development, and "Most Outstanding Collaborative Effort" from the Community Development Corporations Association of Greater Cincinnati.

To date, the neighborhoods of Price Hill, Avondale, Northside, Clifton Heights/Unversity Heights/Fairview (CUF), Westwood and Evanston have been NEP participants.

If you own property within a NEP area, you can begin getting your house ready for inspection by correcting any exterior code violations. To review the kinds of exterior property conditions the Property Maintenance Inspectors will be checking during the NEP, please see the "Interactive House."
