Featured Grant Recipients

Independent Living Options, Inc. (CILO), the oldest independent living center in Ohio, serves individuals of all ages who have physical, cognitive, sensory and/or psychological disabilities. CILO’s Art Beyond Boundaries (ABB) program promotes the full inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities in the arts as both observers and artists. The Art Beyond Boundaries Gallery (pictured) is the heart of the ABB program. Located in Over-the-Rhine, the gallery contributes to the revitalization of the historic Main Street business district. CILO’s family life services and independent living skills programs received operating support in 2008 from the Human Services General Fund Grant Program. The organization also received a 2008 grant for its gallery operations through the Small Arts Organization Grant Program.

In October and November 2008, a photography exhibit at the Art Beyond Boundaries Gallery featured work by visual artist Barbara Gamboa, the recipient of a 2007 grant from the Individual Artist Grant Program. Ms. Gamboa’s grant-funded project was a series of photographs of Cincinnati’s neighborhoods and public places.
