9 a.m. - Cincy Summer Streets (East Walnut Hills/Walnut Hills)

'Summer Streets' Comes To East Walnut Hills/Walnut Hills

For the first time, free "summer streets" events will take place on the east and west side of the city this summer.

Cincy Summer Streets opens up the city’s largest public space -- our streets -- and creates a car-free space for everyone to run, walk, and bike.

Special, fun and free activities will take place at "play-stops" next to the open streets. Cincinnati is joining the more than 100 Summer Street-type events taking place across the country each summer in cities like Indianapolis, Louisville, New York, Portland, and Chicago.

Cincy Summer Streets selected vibrant Cincinnati neighborhoods for the inaugural events: East Walnut Hills/Walnut Hills and Northside. At each event, a major street in the neighborhood will be closed to cars for a length of one mile and opened to the public to bike, run, walk and play.

Numerous free, fun activities will take place alongside the route, including hula hooping, double-dutch jump roping, salsa dancing, a circus, yoga, contemporary jazz and belly dancing classes, art-making, bike rentals, magic shows and more!

Each route includes a vibrant local business district with unique, locally-owned shops and restaurants.

Parking will be available in lots near the route, as well as on side streets throughout the neighborhoods. Also, it's easy to bike and take Metro to both events!

Cincy Summer Streets 2014 is supported by the Walnut Hills Area Council, Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation, East Walnut Hills Assembly, Art on the Streets, and the City of Cincinnati. The events are sponsored by The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation and Interact for Health.
